Rima Pipoyan is a pioneering Armenian choreographer, director, dancer, and educator, blending modern ballet, contemporary movement, martial arts, and cultural gesture. Founder of RP dance company, Choreogarphy foundation, and Modern Dance Educational system, she has brought Armenian contemporary dance to international stages, acclaimed for her bold, poetic, and transformative artistic voice.

ICON ballet

The idea for the ballet Icon came to Rima Pipoyan while watching Tarkovsky’s film Andrei Rublev, and the choreographer’s interest in Russian icon painting provided the foundation for the work’s visual interpretation.

LOVE Bern ballet

Anatomy of Emotions: the ballet features choreography designed to translate feelings into movement, with dancers performing complex sequences to express the nuances of love.

KHALI

The dance performance “KHALI” is inspired by the collective stories of Armenia’s most extraordinary rugs. The artists embody the five most significant colors of Armenian rugs.


BONE

The dance performance “Bone” is inspired by “Women Who Runs with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.

MOURNING WOMEN

The work revives the ancient archetype of the mourning women. It transforms their cries of sorrow into a vision of strength and resilience. It also represents the fight for a future yet to be created.

LA VITA NUOVA

La Vita Nuova is a contemporary one-act dance performance by Rima Pipoyan inspired by Dante Alighieri’s poetic masterpiece. Set to the music of Philip Glass, it explores spirituality, compassion, divine love, and the inner transformation that begins with Dante’s first encounter with Beatrice, the muse who awakens his “new life.

Between 2010–2013, Rima Pipoyan was a jury member and choreographer for three seasons of So You Think You Can Dance (Armenia). Her more than 30 original dance pieces staged for the show earned her national recognition.
